Virtual Instruction for the Real World
Recreating reality is a matter of degrees. How far we'll go depends on your needs and budget, but rest assured, we'll maximize both to ensure trainees experience the highest level of fidelity achievable. We offer solutions and expertise in all four levels of Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI).
Level I: Passive
This level is sometimes referred to as a “page turner” because it simply presents information without requiring feedback or interaction from the student. The lesson is presented in a linear format, such as in advancing through a PowerPoint presentation.
Level II: Limited Participation
In Level II IMI, the student moves from a passive to an active role. Modules will be developed to allow the student to make simple responses to the program. Examples would be selecting a correct course of action or clicking on a component to trigger an animation.
Level III: Complex Participation
Here the learner has increased control over the lesson and exercises decision making. This level of IMI will include more detail and may require input from our programmers and media production specialists in order to allow branching activities. These branches could include different media reaction if a student makes an incorrect selection during a task step.
Level IV: Real-Time Participation
This level of IMI immerses the student in a complex set of cues and responses within a real-time, simulated 3D environment. This level allows the student to navigate though a task and surrounding area. Learners recall large amounts of information and demonstrate specific tasks. Performance is measured and graded within the system.
We can tailor an IMI solution to your aircraft and unique challenges. For instance, our F-35 AMST IMI is delivered via our Virtual Maintenance Trainer which is made up of an Instructor Operator Station (IOS) and up to twelve Student Stations. Configuration of the trainer is based on your discreet mission needs, such as type of aircraft data available, specific technical orders or maintenance tasks to be performed, and number of training seats required. Our goal is to provide maintainers with comprehensive and highly realistic training on ground operation, maintenance, fault isolation and testing procedures, utilizing an interactive 3D virtual aircraft environment.
